Camberley Manor, care home to 60 residents in Surrey’s Deepcut, acts a haven of warmth and care purposefully crafted for residents seeking residential, nursing, and dementia support.

But what truly sets Camberley Manor apart is its unwavering commitment to fostering joy and connection. Enter their latest endeavour: the monthly community initiative, ‘Let Us Host Your Roast’. This heartwarming program aims to extend a helping hand to the local community grappling with the strains of everyday life or battling the pangs of social isolation.

Recently, Camberley Manor welcomed a delightful group of 12 guests, including service users and volunteers from Surrey Heath Age Concern, for a memorable Sunday affair on the 24th of March. Amidst the elegant ambiance of the home’s private dining room, guests indulged in a sumptuous three-course Sunday Roast, complete with all the trimmings, while revelling in each other’s company and savouring a well-deserved tipple.

Home Manager, Girlie Braga, expressed her joy, remarking, “The afternoon was nothing short of delightful, and we eagerly anticipate hosting more of these heartwarming gatherings each month.” Echoing her sentiments, Business Development Manager, Jo Anderson-Woodley, said “It is apparent that we are based in an area that is home to many vulnerable older people living alone who miss company on a weekend, when many of the clubs or groups in our area are not running. As a home, we want to open our home and hospitality to those in our community and offer support in challenging times. Creating a community spirit in our home is key for both residents and those local to us.”

As one attendee exclaimed, “The food was simply divine, and the staff’s care and attention made us feel truly cherished. We’ve had an absolutely lovely time.”

This initiative will continue to brighten the last Sunday of every month. Those interested in joining this uplifting experience are encouraged to reach out to the home directly, as spaces are limited.
