In an inspiring display of unity and support, TLC Care recently hosted the inaugural TLC Care Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off Competition across our nine homes. The team members from each home showcased their culinary talents in a spirited competition that not only celebrated their creativity but also raised vital funds for a local Cancer UK shop in Golders Green.

The first heats, held in each TLC Care home, saw residents whip up delectable treats that were tasted and judged by our residents, team members, culminating in the crowning of home champions. These winners then competed for the ultimate title in the grand finale, held at the splendid Candlewood House Care Home.
Candlewood House Care Home located in Cricklewood, North London, is an oasis of excellence, providing a nurturing environment for Residential, Nursing, Dementia, and Respite care to local communities. Nestled in luxurious surroundings, in additional to 24/7 Nursing, Candlewood House Care Home also has facilities such as Salon, Cinema, Therapy room and professional physiotherapy visit. The TLC Stand up to Cancer Bake- Off Final held on Friday, 20th October. Candlewood House Care Home once again showcased the beautiful décor; stylish balloon designs and live music to entertain the residents and guests whilst the star bakers are busy baking the cakes behind the scenes. The event was witnessed by panel of guests, including representatives from Age UK, Cancer Research, our suppliers, Barnet TV and the Local council. Also, graced by the presence of Deputy Mayor Councillor Tony Vourou, Deputy Mayoress Caroline Vourou. The event garnered overwhelming community support. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tony Vourou, expressed his delight, stating, “I never knew Candlewood House Care Home was so beautiful, and with so many private areas to spend time with loved ones, it is all planned out so well. I am looking forward to working together at Christmas.” Both Deputy Mayor and Mayoress enjoyed their tour of the Home, they were greeted by several residents. One of the residents was so excited to see them that she said to the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress “I am going to tell my friends that I am so honoured to have the distinguished visit from Deputy Mayor and Mayoress”.

A remarkable £500 was raised during this event. Joanna, our wellbeing lead from Candlewood House Care Home emerged as the star Baker of TLC Care. Pippa Mannerings from Age UK extended her gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much for the invite. All the cakes tasted amazing, the environment is warm and friendly, and I can see the residents are so well looked after.” Bahaar Joya commented what an amazing job the team is doing for bring joy and comfort to all the residents and visitors.

Mario Marzolini, Business Development Manager at Candlewood House Care Home shared his enthusiasm, exclaiming, “What a fantastic day! Barnet TV was here to film and interview, the Deputy Mayor was here, a brilliant, well-organized, fun event.”

Xiao Williams, Home Manager at Candlewood House Care Home expressed her pride in the team, stating, “I am so proud of every contester, and the hard work of all the team members, together we all put in to make this special event happen. It was great honour to have the visit of Deputy Mayor and Mayoress”. Xiao extended her heartfelt gratitude to all participants, guests, and supporters, reaffirming its commitment to support local communities.
