This year has been one of the most collaborative, far-reaching and impactful periods for Care Campaign for the Vulnerable (CCFTV). Born from lived experience and shaped by a deep determination to improve transparency, dignity and safety in dementia care, CCFTV continues to grow as a respected national voice working alongside families, care providers, innovators, charities and legal partners.
Throughout the year, CCFTV was invited into care services across the country, meeting leadership teams, observing practice, supporting staff and listening to families who rely on clear guidance and compassion at some of the most difficult times of their lives. These invitations reflect increasing trust in CCFTV’s constructive, lived-experience-led approach, and the shared belief that transparency and accountability can strengthen care cultures rather than divide them.
Much of this year’s progress was driven by partnerships built on integrity and shared values. CCFTV’s ongoing collaboration with Slater and Gordon Lawyers remained central to supporting families navigating complex safeguarding and legal concerns. Relationships with Care Protect, Abuela Technology, ERA Group and Maria Mallaband Care Group continued to grow, with each organisation demonstrating professionalism, honesty and a genuine commitment to responsible, consent-led safety monitoring and improved care outcomes.
CCFTV continued to support Adopt a Grandparent, and proudly maintained its role as an Ambassador for BRACE Dementia Research. A sincere thank you is extended to Signature Care Homes and Oakland Care, whose generosity this year raised vital funds for BRACE and contributed to ongoing dementia research.
Another highlight was the continued success of CCFTV’s roundtable and networking events. These have become some of the sector’s most anticipated gatherings, offering space for honest, insightful, solution-focused conversations among senior leaders, clinicians, insurers, legal teams, innovators and family voices. CCFTV extends sincere thanks to Signature at Reigate, Signature at Highgate and Loveday & Co Belgravia for hosting these events and welcoming CCFTV’s mission so openly.
The year also brought profound international insight. Sponsored by ERA Group, CCFTV travelled to South Africa to complete the Table Mountain abseil challenge in memory of Ellen, raising £4,000 for BRACE and bringing the total fundraising for dementia research charities close to £20,000. During this visit, CCFTV was invited into Nazareth Care, gaining a powerful understanding of elderly care in South Africa. Despite limited resources, their commitment, structure and compassion were remarkable — a reminder that the heart of care is universal: the vulnerable person who depends entirely on those around them.
Sector engagement remained strong throughout the year. CCFTV participated in UK Care Week and took an active role in the Leaders in Care Conference, proudly sponsoring a full panel on technology. The panel brought together respected voices including Professor Martin Green OBE, CEO of Care England, and Philip Scott of Care Protect, for a meaningful discussion around safety, accountability, innovation and the realities faced by the workforce. These conversations helped shape thinking across the sector and reinforced the need for technology that supports, rather than replaces, compassionate care.
Recognition followed too. Jayne Connery was named a finalist for the second consecutive year in the Leading Women in Care Awards 2025, and shortlisted in the Leaders in Care Awards for Supplier of the Year (Care Homes). A memorable moment came when she was asked to present the trophy for Best Design Care Home of the Year – an award celebrating design that genuinely enhances dignity, independence and wellbeing.
This year also strengthened CCFTV’s influence in media. Care Home Professional and Care Home Magazine continued to provide vital support, publishing several articles and front-cover features showcasing CCFTV’s work, the experiences of families, and the wider call for transparency and safety in care.
CCFTV’s involvement with Care England is highly valued – with more opportunities to contribute to national conversations around policy, culture, safety and innovation. This recognition reflects the sector’s confidence in CCFTV’s balanced, experienced and solution-focused contribution to improving care standards.
Despite the partnerships, invitations and recognition, one thing remained constant: CCFTV’s commitment to supporting families. Throughout the year, CCFTV worked alongside people facing deeply distressing circumstances navigating safeguarding, CHC NHS funding and depravation of liberty safeguards , hospital discharge and complex dementia needs. Every piece of work remained centred on compassion, clarity and practical solutions, with the vulnerable person at the heart of every decision.
What We Hope to Achieve Next Year
Looking ahead, CCFTV enters the new year with renewed purpose and a clear vision for the progress still to come. The aim is to expand the roundtable programme further, bringing open, honest discussion to even more regions and encouraging participation from leaders, frontline teams, families and innovators.
CCFTV will continue to advocate for consistent national guidance on independent, choice-led safety monitoring, ensuring providers who embrace transparency are supported rather than penalised. A key focus will be further strengthening relationships with providers who want to lead with integrity and prioritise culture, communication and resident wellbeing. CCFTV is also launching in 2026 the Carers Support Network – a space for carers to come together.
Supporting families will remain central, with the ambition to help even more people navigate complex systems with confidence and support. CCFTV also hopes to build on the deepen collaboration with charities and innovators, and continue raising funds for dementia research through BRACE.
Above all, the goal is to drive even greater unity across the sector — unity built on honesty, accountability and the shared belief that vulnerable people deserve the very best and their dedicated and hard working carers .
And everything achieved, now and in the future, continues to be done in loving memory of Ellen, whose story began this work and whose legacy will always guide it.
Thank you to all our valued partners and to everyone who supports CCFTV. Wishing you a MERRY Christmas and a safe and happy New Year !
